Polly Polly, Goto http://www.insulin-pumpers.org and follow the link on the lower left side of the page to the "how to" section. It gives very clear details on how to calculate insulin dosages on a "sliding scale". Print it out and review it with your doctor. The info applies to all humalog and novolog users even if they do not use a pump. Mack, does that site cover "residual insulin"? that's what gets me in trouble sometimes when aggressively treating a high bg. I don't always take the time to calculate how much insulin is still active from the last bolus before pumping in a corrective bolus. dave Mack wrote: On Tue, 17 Feb 2004 20:31:45 -0700 (MST), ShiDaisy~webtv.net (Polly) wrote: Does anyone inject Humalog on a sliding scale? I was, when my bg's were consistently 200. Using the Humalog 75/25, testing before meals, my scale was: 200 - 300: 4 units 300 - 400: 6 units over 400: 6 units and call doc. AFAIK, everyone's scale is different, though.. I think they came up with those numbers in the hosp after seeing how I reacted to the injections they gave me. amylou Type II dx 12/03 "Polly" <ShiDaisy~webtv.net wrote in message news:2983-4032DCA1-591~storefull-3198.bay.webtv.net... Polly That's a function of your body weight, your muscle to fat ratio, and your basal metabolism. It's something you should determine by trial and error. The odds are that mine won't work well for you. Regards Old Al
