I am absoloutly fuming?
Question:
I decided to ring the Diabetes nurses today to see how long I was going to have to wait for an appointment. My referral was made to them end of November last year.I was told that they had not received a referral. As you can imagine,I was not too happy to hear this news.I was told they would contact the doctors to see what had happened, and that another referral would have to be made.I explained to her my present situation of hi's and lo's and that I was pretty desperate to be seen. She said she would contact me by the end of the week.
I rang my doctors,as I was fuming, but they informed me they had the referral up on the computer screen and it had been sent on the 28th November,so,what has happened I don't know but I am sick of it all.I am sick of having to fight to get someone to listen to me,and I often feel I am left to deal with this **** condition on my own.Thank goodness for DD,at least I can get some support on here.
So watch this space, maybe I will get an appointment some time this year!!!

Oh Jacqui, that's dreadful...you need to get in to see a doc sooner rather than later!
I think the only solace, as you rightly identify, is this place! When you get to the doc, you'll probably end up disappointed though as there is more experience here than I have ever heard with my docs.
Good luck and I look forward to hearing of your impending appointment soon.

How frustrating for you! Although I think a national health plan is overall a good thing, the "one-size-fits-all" approach to diabetes is pretty disappointing.
Would it help if you had your doctor print out a copy of the referral and then you took that to the diabetes nurses? Looks like you're going to have to be a squeaky wheel to get some attention. Are there any higher-ups or agency managers you can approach to get things moving?
Best of luck with all this.

Jacqui, if you don't hear back from them by the end of the week, I would seriously consider making a complaint. The way you've had to fight just to try to eat a healthy diet andlkive a normal life is disgraceful.

Hi Jacqui. Its maybe time for a change of doc. No-one seems to be listening to you and that's just not on. Good luck and let us know how you get on. Moe.
